About Us

Family-owned and operated since 1945, Ribnick Fur & Leather is one of the largest fur retailers in the U.S., offering the Midwest’s most extensive collection of designer fur, leather and shearling coats and jackets. Our collection includes fashions produced in the U.S., Canada, and around the world, including designs custom-made exclusively for Ribnick clients.

Our expansive showroom also features fur-lined or fur-trimmed coats, jackets and wraps made from luxury fabrics such as cashmere, angora/wool, silk, camel hair and taffeta. We also offer an extensive line of unique accessories including fur hats, purses, cashmere scarves, and Italian leather gloves.

In addition to offering the world’s most contemporary styles, Ribnick's Master Furrier restyles and remodels older, traditional fur coats, creating one-of-a-kind creations. Our expert staff also alters, repairs, reconditions and cleans furs of all types, and advises customers on the proper care and treatment of their garments. Ribnick’s also offers cold storage on the premises for complete security.

Ribnick Fur & Leather has been in our present location since 1945. The store is located in a building originally built in 1884 as a fishery, and now is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Customers enjoy the old-world charm of the exposed brick, convenient off-street parking and easy access from Highways 35W, 94 and 394.

Third generation owner Bill Ribnick has been Ribnicks’ president since 1993. He has seen a huge shift in the types and styles of coats that are popular – from traditional full-length mink coats to short or mid-length lightweight, reversible coats lined in sheared mink. Ribnick knows that his customers are looking for lightweight but warm coats that they can wear with jeans to the grocery store as well all dressed up for the symphony.

Known for our low-pressure, personalized service, Ribnick Furs is a destination store that attracts a wide range of customers, including local and national celebrities who are in town. Customers drive 500 miles to shop at Ribnick Furs, and hundreds of others call the store every week with questions about fur repairs, what to do with their used furs, how to care for and store furs, and the current inventory of fur coats and jackets.
